Your Personal 'P' Drive, for Storage and Back-Up

Did you know that each MHC employee has a  ‘P:’ (personal) drive that  is mapped to a storage location on the college's network? The P storage drive is:
·         A location unique to each person; the files placed in your P drive cannot be seen or accessed by others.
·         Backed-up daily, making it a great location to save files you do not want to lose.
·         Accessible from any computer that you can log into on campus, and off campus through our web based VPN!

Please use your P drive to:
·         Store work related files such as documents and spreadsheets
·         Store course materials (assignments, tests, course notes, presentations, etc.)

Please do not use your P drive to:
·         Store very large files or huge amounts of data ( if you have a need to back-up very large files, or large amounts of data, contact the Support Centre and we will devise a means to do so)
·         Back-up email (this is done centrally via backing up of our Exchange Server)
·         Back-up the entire computer (this is not needed, we can reinstall and configure the operating system and all applications, just store data files (information) on the P: drive)
·         Store your personal files (i.e. family photos, music)
·         Store applications (contact ITS if you have applications (programs) stored on a computer and we will advise you as to whether we need be concerned about backing it up)
